Tawanchai To Defend Muay Thai World Title Against Jo Nattawut In Trilogy Fight At ONE 169: Atlanta
A trilogy fight of epic proportions is headed to State Farm Arena at ONE 169: Atlanta on November 8.
Live in U.S. primetime, reigning ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai will put his gold on the line against familiar foe “Smokin” Jo Nattawut in a five-round battle that promises fireworks from start to finish.
Tawanchai won his 26 pounds of Muay Thai gold in September 2022 with a victory over former longtime divisional king Petchmorakot Petchyindee.
After defending his belt one time, he laced up the larger gloves for a run in the sport of kickboxing, finishing Georgian scrapper Davit Kiria with a bone-shattering kick to the arm.
Then at ONE Fight Night 15 last October, the Thai megastar squared off with “Smokin” Jo in a thrilling, back-and-forth kickboxing tilt that captured the attention of ONE’s global audience.
Tawanchai would take a razor-close decision that night, but given the electrifying nature of that fight, the stage was set for a rematch.
Two months later, the PK Saenchai product returned to Muay Thai and successfully defended his featherweight crown against fellow superstar Superbon.
Most recently, in the main event of ONE 167, Tawanchai and Nattawut went to war for five rounds of high-paced, technical action that pushed both men to the absolute limit.
Yet again, though, Tawanchai emerged victorious with a narrow decision to retain his ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title.
For his part, the hard-hitting Nattawut has put together an illustrious Muay Thai career but has yet to claim ONE Championship gold in the sport.
At 34 years old, the #3-ranked featherweight Muay Thai contender is undoubtedly hungry to take another crack at the World Title – and avenge his two defeats to Tawanchai in the process.
When “Smokin” Jo takes to the Circle at ONE 169, he’s likely to receive a hero’s welcome.
That’s because Atlanta has become the Thai veteran’s home base, and after fighting around the United States for a huge chunk of his career, he’s developed legions of American fans who are excited to see him compete in person.
