Reinier De Ridder Trains With Aung La N Sang At Sanford MMA
Reinier de Ridder has crossed the floor to train with an old rival in the United States.
The reigning ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion recently traveled to Sanford MMA in Florida, where he’s been sharing the mats with Aung La N Sang.
De Ridder famously took both of his World Title belts from the Myanmar icon in October 2020 and April 2021, but now, the former foes are working together.
Based on his public comments, “The Dutch Knight” has always held Aung La N Sang in high regard. However, he doesn’t appear to have any interest in a trilogy showdown.
He said last year:
“I have spoken to [Aung La N Sang] a few times now in passing. He’s a legend, he’s a great fighter, I respect him, but I never want to see him inside the cage again. I’m happy to put this to bed now. Two wins, it’s done.”
While De Ridder no longer wants to face his old rival, he’s long been interested in working together and expects “The Burmese Python” to get back on track after a tough stretch.
Reinier De Ridder Making The Most Of Elite Training Partners
Sanford MMA is full of top talent, and Reinier de Ridder is taking full advantage of his visit.
As well as sparring with Aung La N Sang, the undefeated mixed martial artist has been training with many of the gym’s other stars, including his Dutch compatriot Tyrone Spong.
Spong earned his reputation as a top-level kickboxer, and he’s also a mixed martial artist and an unbeaten professional boxer.
De Ridder posted a video of the pair clinch sparring, and while “King of the Ring” is known for his explosive striking, he’s seen taking the “The Dutch Knight” to the deck – something many opponents struggle to achieve.
