Janet Todd Vs. Phetjeeja, Allycia Hellen Rodrigues Vs. Cristina Morales World Title Bouts Set For ONE Fight Night 20
On Friday, March 8, the bright lights of ONE Championship will return to Bangkok’s historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium for a massive show in North American primetime.
ONE Fight Night 20 on Prime Video will take place on International Women’s Day 2024. Fittingly, it will be topped by a pair of Women’s World Title fights that promise fast-paced striking for as long as they last.
In the main event, ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion Janet Todd will square off with interim titleholder “The Queen” Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom in an intriguing World Title unification bout.
At 38 years old and a veteran of nine fights in the world’s largest martial arts organization, “JT” has long been considered one of the planet’s most talented pound-for-pound strikers.
After a four-fight stint in Muay Thai that saw her hold the interim atomweight crown, the hard-hitting American now returns to kickboxing to defend her divisional gold.
Standing across from Todd will be one of the organization’s breakout stars of 2023.
Still just 22 years old, Phetjeeja is already a decorated Muay Thai superstar who has seamlessly transitioned her skill set to the kickboxing rule set.
The Thai reeled off five straight victories in 2023 and capped her year with an epic victory over legendary striker Anissa Meksen to capture the ONE Interim Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Title.
Now, the young phenom will battle the American veteran to determine the division’s undisputed divisional queen.
In the co-main event, ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues will defend her gold against Spanish sensation Cristina Morales.
The titleholder first claimed the belt in 2020 with a hard-fought victory over Thai megastar and current ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Champion Stamp Fairtex.
After a lengthy layoff due to the birth of her child, the Brazilian returned last year in style, showcasing incredible heart, endurance, and technical acumen to successfully defend her World Title against Todd.
Rodrigues then made a brief foray into the strawweight Muay Thai division, unsuccessfully challenging Smilla Sundell for the gold, but she’s now back to her natural weight and ready to put her gold on the line.
This defense will come against Morales, a former ISKA K-1 World Champion who is coming off a massive victory in her most recent outing.
Last November at ONE Fight Night 16, Morales stunned the Bangkok faithful with a first-round stoppage of young Thai prodigy Anna “Supergirl” Jaroonsak.
With that result, the 30-year-old earned another step up in competition, as she will test her high-volume, aggressive striking against the vicious clinch game and elite fight IQ of Rodrigues.
