Anissa Meksen To Face Phetjeeja For Interim Atomweight Kickboxing World Title At ONE Friday Fights 46
The holiday season has come early for Anissa Meksen and “The Queen” Phetjeeja, as the two stars have been gifted a golden opportunity.
At ONE Friday Fights 46, the elite strikers will compete for the ONE Interim Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Title at the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Whoever emerges victorious on December 22 will meet the division’s reigning queen, Janet Todd, in a World Title unification bout in 2024.
Meksen has long been considered the best pound-for-pound female striker on the planet.
The French-Algerian great is a seven-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion who owns an astonishing 103-5 career record. What’s more, the 35-year-old has won all of her bouts in ONE Championship.
Meksen enjoyed a dazzling promotional debut, as she finished ISKA Atomweight K-1 World Champion Cristina Morales via second-round TKO. She then overwhelmed Marie Ruumet and Dangkongfah Banchamek en route to a pair of unanimous decision victories.
However, Meksen will be standing across the ring from an athlete who is much younger but has even more competition experience.
Phetjeeja, also known as “The Queen,” is a WMC Muay Thai World Champion who owns a jaw-dropping 206-6 career record.
The 21-year-old prodigy quickly established herself on the weekly ONE Friday Fights event series, knocking out Fani Peloumpi and Ines Pilutti in highlight-reel fashion to earn a six-figure contract with the world’s largest martial arts organization.
Phetjeeja continued to dazzle in U.S. primetime, as she finished Lara Fernandez in 26 seconds this past July and then dominated Celest Hansen en route to a third-round TKO victory in early October.
Now, these two modern-day legends will close out the year in style – with 26 pounds of gold on the line.
